You know what? Let's just make a poll, heh, then after we decide on a state we can make another poll to decide on a city name. It sounds like the states on the table (assuming we are settled on the united states) are:
California Maine Massachusetts Oregon

Lets not forget Maine has an island named Hawaii 2, but realistically it does get pretty wintery there during the winter. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawaii_2I had kind of assumed this was some territorial pacific island resort, something like Guam or the like that was far enough out into the Pacific that they were pretty much on their own except for an instance of extreme natural disaster. Some resort island where corporate or private interests hold more sway over the local infrastructure than any government. The layout calls to mind Central America, a resort with some nice shops surrounding it, but god help you if you wander outside the tourist zone.

Part of me thinks we need to stop talking about it and just decide on SOMETHING though hehe. It seems like California is gonna end up winning anyways so after that's done maybe we can slip in the "island off the coast" part. Then just not have the exact location much more specific. We'll already be leagues ahead of where we were then. It just can't be too remote unless the island is huge, cause I can't think of much reason for an adult studio to be super out of the way; although most of the other businesses would make sense. EDIT: I am honestly pretty confident California is the winner at this point so maybe it's time to get back into the name/island thing. If anyone has any other thoughts on those. San Juniper is the only one I've seen suggested I think. That and Seaside. We could use them both and have San Juniper be like...the island and Seaside be the town or something.

Bumping this one more time.
If anyone has strong objections/alternatives to the name "San Juniper" as suggested by Angel.
Or has a strong opinion on whether or not we are on a coastal island or the mainland it'd be good to weight in so we can get this nailed down ASAP and actually be able to stop referring to it as the city.
This seems especially important with everyone actively promoting it in public and more and more new people seeming to hop in.
-----------------------
As an aside; I am for calling it San Juniper and having it be a roadway or large ferry connected island off the northern Cali coast.

Hey I like the idea of having the City in a real place, but I prefer it to be a more based on a real city, Like Los Santos being based on LA or Liberty City - NY. gives a little more freedom within the game. Hehe sorry, can't find the words to describe what I mean but basically I like the idea of it being in California but I kinda prefer the name The City or something made up as apposed to a real place.

I like the idea to have a "dark" name over some common one. It fit pretty well i think

Lol, well that's because it IS from San Junipero, I haven't seen it but Angel though it was appropriate. I do think a "dark sounding" or neutral name is thematically appropriate, although we may want it to not be super obvious, since there are people who don't come to engage with the plot. And Nikki, yeah, we all totally agree ^-^ San Juniper isn't a real place. I don't think any of use are pushing for it to be set in a real city. Just a real state or area, so we have an idea of kinda what the climate and population is gonna be all about. Part of me also still likes the idea of making it something really happy sounding or ironic, so the shift for people who discover the story is more jarring. I suggested "Innocence" earlier in the thread. Summersville there is another good example. It might be worth Suzie telling us about any big geographical features she wants in the area other than the sea. Since city names often involve local natural landmarks and the like. Something that ends in "Point" might be cool. It would help explain the ocean on two sides, the remoteness of the area AND we could get a cool, spooky, lighthouse ~ <3 In fact not that I've said that my vote is to have it be Something "Point" :3

Sunnydale was the name of the city in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I second the idea of a "nice" or "happy" sounding city name. I think it works in so many ways for the story. I like Summersville Bloomsburg Las Bellezas - Spanish for "The Beauties" Surf Beach Chillville - Only because I really think this would stand out in the 3dxchat room listings, also, it sounds cool
